General Description

Hangsterfer’s CT-50 is a fully synthetic, oil-free and chlorine-free lubricant designed for medium and light duty press applications. CT-50 combines the extreme pressure properties of the traditional sulfur-chlorinated press lubricants with the cleanability of water dilutable oil. For this reason, CT-50 is popular with companies that have made the switch from solvent degreasing to aqueous cleaning systems.

Application

The innovative design of CT-50 makes it a versatile and economical product. Depending on the nature of the application and the characteristics of the material, CT-50 can be used in its neat form or it can be used diluted with water. Dilution should not exceed two parts water to one part CT-50. The more difficult a job is, the more CT-50 it will require. CT-50 can be used for punching, blanking, stamping, roll forming, drawing and bending of the above materials. Dilution of the CT-50 will depend more on the material and its thickness than it does on the application. However, if the application includes many stages of either the progressive or transfer style, it is best to run the CT-50 in its neat form. This will help insure that there is enough CT-50 on the part for the last few stages.

Materials

CT-50 is intended for use on carbon steels, aluminum and brass up to 0.125” thick and stainless steels and nickel alloys up to 0.070” thick. As material thickness increases, so should the concentration of the CT-50. Most applications involving stainless steel and nickel alloys will require use of the CT-50 in its neat form.

Instructions

CT-50 can be dripped or rolled onto the material as it enters the press. It can also be sprayed or misted onto the material as the material passes through the press. CT-50 can be used in recirculating systems for extended periods of time as long as the dilution ratio does not exceed 2:1.If using the CT-50 diluted with water, it is important to follow these instructions. Always add CT-50 to water, then agitate. Do not add water to CT-50. Always premix CT-50 to the desired ratio before pouring into the sump or containment vessel. This will help insure that the correct ratio will be applied to the material or tool. CT-50 is not formulated for extended sump life in the same way Hangsterfer’s coolants are formulated. As long as the 2:1 ratio is not exceeded, CT-50 will work very well for an extended period of time in press applications that make use of recirculating lube systems.

Maintenance

CT-50 is not formulated for extended sump life in the same way Hangsterfer’s coolants are formulated. As long as the 2:1 ratio is not exceeded, CT-50 will work very well for an extended period of time in press applications that make use of recirculating lube systems.
